Newbold Brick Company Ltd.

There is evidence that bricks have been produced in Newbold since the eighteen hundreds but a significant brick manufacturing company was established in 1934 by The Leicestershire Colliery and Pipe Company Ltd., under the direction of Frank Hodges.

The Newbold Brick Company Ltd. built a brick making plant consisting of modern machinery, a twenty two chamber electric Hoffmann Kiln topped with the iconic Newbold chimney. Although numbers differ, Frank Hodges claimed in a press release in the Leicester Evening Mail that the Brick works was capable of producing 220,000 bricks per day.
