The Newbold Brickworks Chimney is an important feature of the area’s industrial past, but a 2023 survey confirmed it is now in serious disrepair. Loose brickwork presents a significant safety risk, and a five-metre exclusion zone has been established. The Heritage Group and Resco Products (UK) Ltd. considered restoration, but all funding options required unrestricted public access. As the site is an active workplace operating six days a week, this condition cannot be met. Limited access was offered, but the ongoing costs of maintenance and liability insurance make preservation unviable. For safety reasons, demolition is therefore necessary.
